MDM dance show April 7-8 to feature talk-back sessions

The annual spring performance of the Muskegon Dance Movement, (formerly known as

Muskegon Dance Company) will take place on Friday and Saturday, April 7-8, in The

Overbrook Theater on campus.

Dance performances range from musically driven to socially conscious. This year’s

performance will include a talk-back session in between dances, following each performance.

This year’s company members include MCC students: Lauren, McCaleb, Lexi Andersen,

Emily Baldwin, Caia Dibble, Hannah Erdman, Dani Goodyke, Micala Jefferson, Erin Scott, and

Kaysie Stark.

McCaleb, who was part of a group dance last year, has a solo this year. She is doing a

lyrical dance to Hallelujah.

“I’ve never done a solo before,” she said, “so I’m excited to do this type of dance style.

“My favorite is ballet, so this is kind of getting me out of my comfort zone.”

Performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. and run approximately two hours with a 10-minute

intermission. Cost is $5 for students and $10 for the public. This performance is recommended

for audiances age 12 and older.

Melissa Brunsting is the MCC dance coordinator and choreographer of the show.

“I strive to make dance a part of the culture in our city, and center my choreography

around the goal as much as possible,” said Brunsting. “We will be presenting both new and

revisited works this year.”

Tickets go on sale Wednesday April 5. For additional information or to reserve tickets,
